We’re happy to announce Electron Junction. An event that is all about people that like to tinker and play around with electronics, which can be as simple as blinking a LED with an Arduino or as complicated as building autonomous robots to explore the universe. While the focus will be on hardware, software will play an important role as well.
Tickets are available via the Pixelbar Ticketshop. If you want to participate in the Arduino workshop by Mitch Altman or the SMD workshop by Klimnt you can reserve your spot and reserve the required kits of components in the shop as well. Please note, there are limited component kits.
Electron Junction is the first day-long event organized by Pixelbar Rotterdam.
A social evening will follow on the event. Food will be available for donations and we’ll have some Club Mate and Beer. Maybe even tschunk.
Looking forward to see you in Rotterdam!
We are still looking for additional speakers and people who would like to present their projects.
This can be either a talk of about 45 mins or, equally awesome, you are welcome to bring your project for a live demo during the day. Please contact the orga at orga [at] pixelbar.nl
This Saturday (March 25) 10 hackerspaces will open their doors to the public. And obviously Pixelbar we be one of those hackerspaces, as we are opening our doors for everyone that wants to visit.
From 11:00 until 17:00 you can visit us where you can see our projects, talk with our members and can become more familiar with our hackerspace. So if you are looking for some inspiration, learn something or just want to chill, visit us this Saturday!
No need to sign up, just come by at our space. You can find us in the Keilewerf.
Recently we had a member of the hackerspace in Minsk, Belarus, visited our space. Yahor gave a presentation about what they have done and are doing right now at their space. Pretty interesting and cool too see. And obviously we’re happy to welcome everyone at our space. Check out his presentation:
This Wednesday, on Feb 22th at 8pm our hackerspace will welcome a special guest. Namely: Ancilla van de Leest, the leader of the Pirate Party of The Netherlands. The reason why she is stopping by is not necessarily because she is from Rotterdam and visits hackerpaces regularly (it’s a first for our space though). No, instead she will visit us to talk about her party and the upcoming Dutch parliamentary elections, which are happening next month.
Although you might or might not share the same political views, everyone is welcome and our space is open for new discussions. So if you’re interested in Dutch politics, the Pirate Party, net neutrality, privacy topics or Ancilla in general - come visit us this Wednesday.
The last time we had a lot fun building a chatbot with JavaScript in NodeJS! To continue on this journey of learning how to work with event based programming, we figured it was time to dive into websockets. Although it might be very similar to building a chatbot, we think it can be either a good lesson for new people or a fun challenge for the intermediate developer.
This workshop is meant for people that just started programming, but also fun if you’re an intermediate developer.
Our program
7:00 - Opening doors
7:30 - Introduction (doors are closed, please message us on chat if you’re later)
8:00 - Let’s go realtime with websockets!
9:00 - And we’re done!
You can stick around to ask questions, discuss the meetup or just chill afterwards.
